Woof Woof!
Eclectic and surprisingly desirable, the diamond dog days look at London's TopShop Unique created by make up artist Hannah Murray was a signal that the show must go on despite the recession and that we should all anticipate partying until the very end, hence the smudged lived in eyes, false eyelashes and bleached brows.
In step with Murray's vision, but playing a different beat was hairstylist Paul Hanlon's poochyliscious ponytails. Fabulous and fun.

Kaleidoscopic
XXXX Kaleidoscopic Magazine Intro from Tripp/Jenna Watt on Vimeo.
Although originally shown in 2009 this is a great fashion film by XXX magazine that showcases the recent resurgence of acid bright eye colours and eye embellishments.

Tangerine Dream
At Thakoon's Fall 2011 Ready-to-wear collections, there was once again a resurgence of tangerine orange combined with melon as a strong eye colour, but this time it was more searing and intense. Almost mouthwatering in its application, the Nars team gave make up an exotic twist that once again required a reduction in eyebrow colouring (please note the careful application of bleach), and as a result there was the unique sensation that this was not something that had been pulled from a far flung archive. Shock horror, are we looking at original work here? The jury is now out.

Homage
A belated entry, but I remembered to finally post the collaborative effort of Nick Knight, stylist Alister Mackie, who are clearly influenced by the work of LucyandBart in this impressive editorial called “Body language” for AnOther Man.

17th century painting seen as a surface which can be read as a description of everyday life
Almost reminiscent of 17th century Dutch portrait painting, particularly that of Johannes Vermeer and his 'Girl with a pearl earring', and also the portraits of Hendrik Kersten featured earlier on this blog, Marc Jacobs A/W ready-to-wear catwalk collection inspires a new way to apply colour to the cheeks. It is also an indicator that perhaps our love affair with the heavily applied eyebrow is now waning.

NYFW FALL 2011: JEREMY SCOTT
Is it possible to overdose on sugar? These saccharine sweet highlights seen backstage at Jeremy Scott have given faceCULTURE a head rush and I am not sure whether I want to come down from this sherbert powdered high.
