A belated entry, but I remembered to finally post the collaborative effort of Nick Knight, stylist Alister Mackie, who are clearly influenced by the work of LucyandBart in this impressive editorial called “Body language” for AnOther Man.

17th century painting seen as a surface which can be read as a description of everyday life

Almost reminiscent of 17th century Dutch portrait painting, particularly that of Johannes Vermeer and his 'Girl with a pearl earring', and also the portraits of Hendrik Kersten featured earlier on this blog, Marc Jacobs A/W ready-to-wear catwalk collection inspires a new way to apply colour to the cheeks.  It is also an indicator that perhaps our love affair with the heavily applied eyebrow is now waning.

With the emphasis on a neutral approach, I began to despair over the lack of color and creative application on the catwalk.  Thanks goodness for Donna Karan's Fall 2011 Ready to Wear Collection.  Now I can relax.
